What is MentionShare and how is it calculated?

MentionShare is TrueCite's proprietary score (0–100) that measures how often your brand appears in AI-generated answers compared to competitors. It is calculated by running your target prompts across all selected AI engines and dividing the number of responses that mention your brand by the total responses, expressed as a percentage.

Which AI engines does MentionShare tracking cover?

TrueCite tracks brand mentions across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Copilot, Meta AI, and Google AI Overviews. Engine availability depends on your plan — Starter adds Gemini, Pro adds Claude, Grok, and DeepSeek, and Enterprise unlocks all nine.

How often is my MentionShare score updated?

Your MentionShare score updates every time you run a scan. You can run scans manually at any time or set up automated scheduled scans on Starter and above plans. Most teams scan daily or weekly to track trends over time.

Can I track MentionShare for multiple brands or products?

Yes. Lite supports 1 project, Starter supports 3, Pro supports 10, and Enterprise supports 20. Each project has its own MentionShare score, scan history, and competitor tracking — useful for agencies managing multiple clients or companies with multiple product lines.

What is a good MentionShare score?

It depends heavily on your category and number of competitors. In competitive B2B SaaS categories, a score above 40% is strong. For niche markets with fewer competitors, scores above 60% are achievable. The most important signal is the trend — a rising score indicates your AEO efforts are working.
