Measuring fix effectiveness
After publishing a fix, here's how to measure whether it's working.
The measurement cycle
Note your baseline
Before publishing, record your MentionShare for the specific prompt you're fixing.
Publish the fix
Add the FAQ block and/or schema to your website.
Wait 4–6 weeks
AI engines need time to crawl, index, and incorporate your new content into their training signals.
Rescan the same prompt
Run the exact same prompt on the same engine. Compare to your baseline.
Iterate
If MentionShare improved — great, add more prompts. If not — try a different FAQ structure or add third-party citations.
Don't rescan too early. Rescanning within 1–2 weeks of publishing won't reflect your fix. AI engines typically update their signals monthly.
What good results look like
0% → 20–40%
Typical result from a single well-published FAQ block within 6 weeks.
20% → 50%+
With 3+ FAQ blocks + schema + third-party citations.
Position 4–5 → 1–2
Improved positioning from a differentiation-focused fix block.
