How scans work
A TrueCite scan simulates what buyers see when they ask AI engines about your category — and measures whether your brand appears.
The scan process
You enter prompts
Buyer-intent questions like 'What is the best CRM for B2B SaaS startups?' These simulate real searches your prospects make.
TrueCite queries AI engines
Each prompt is sent to your selected AI engines. Each engine generates a response using its own training data and citation behavior.
Responses are analyzed
TrueCite detects whether your brand is mentioned, at what position, with what sentiment, and which competitors appeared instead.
MentionShare is calculated
Results are aggregated into your MentionShare score and stored in your scan history for trend tracking.
What you get after a scan
MentionShare score
Your overall % of responses where your brand appeared. Broken down by engine.
Brand position
Where in the response your brand appeared — position 1 is the primary recommendation.
Sentiment
Whether the mention was positive, neutral, or negative.
Competitor mentions
Which competitors appeared in each response and how often.
Raw AI response
The full text of what each AI engine actually said about your category.
Fix recommendations
Which prompts need fixes most urgently, ranked by impact.
Scan results for engines without a public API (Copilot, Meta AI, Google AI Overviews) are generated using AI simulation. They represent likely AI responses but may not perfectly match live engine output at any given moment.
