Roles and permissions
TrueCite has 4 roles. Roles control what a team member can see and do within a business profile. The business owner is always the Owner. All other seats are assigned a role when invited and can be changed at any time.
• Full access to everything
• Billing and plan management
• Delete the business profile
• Manage all team members and roles
• Only one Owner per business
• Run scans and view all results
• Generate, edit, and delete fixes
• Invite and remove Members and Viewers
• Change business name, website, and settings
• Cannot access billing or delete the business
• Run scans and view results
• Generate and manage fixes
• View team member roster
• Cannot change settings or invite others
• View scans and results (read-only)
• View fix blocks (cannot generate or edit)
• Read-only access to all dashboard sections
• Cannot run scans, change settings, or manage team
Choosing the right role
For internal team members who run scans and create content, use Member. For team leads or managers who also need to change settings, use Admin. For clients or stakeholders who only need to see results, use Viewer.
Changing a role
Owners and Admins can change any Member's or Viewer's role. Go to Settings → Team, click the role badge next to the member's name, select the new role, and confirm. The member receives an email notification when their role changes.
Role-based access in practice
Roles are enforced in the dashboard UI. All members share the same business data — scan results, fix blocks, competitors, and prompt library are visible to everyone with access to the business. Roles control what actions each person can take, not which data they can see.
Agencies: assign clients the Viewer role so they can track their own AI visibility without being able to modify prompts, run unauthorized scans, or access billing information.
